1 hour 50 minutes
Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Bill Paxton
It’s obvious that Denzel Washington took a vacation from meaningful movies with “2 Guns”.
Washington teams up with Mark Wahlberg for a tricky buddy cop comic thriller that’s more confusing that clever.
These federal agents masquerading as crooks spend too much time straining to make the most of there rather limited chemistry.
What a surprise that the hick town bank they rob has a fortune in drug money stashed away.
Corrupt government agencies come out of the woodwork to claim the cash for themselves.
Leaving Washington and Wahlberg all tied up in knots struggling with the not very comical repartee.
The superficial script is just about Mark Wahlberg’s speed. But far below Denzel Washington’s standard.
And yet, it’s the supporting case that occasionally gives “2 Guns” a shot at the target. I’m talking about the always reliable Bill Paxton.
He generates some moments of pleasure as a sadistic wacko from the CIA.
What I’d like you to know is that “”2 Guns” comes up short, far wide of the mark. It’s not a complete waste of time, but I’d be less than honest pointing “2 Guns” in the direction of more than 2 stars.
Especially for Denzel Washington fans, “2 Guns” is mostly loaded with blanks.
