‘World War Z”June 23rd, 2013 at 10:50 am by Sy Becker under A Look at the Movies
1 hour 55 minutes
Brad Pitt, Mirele Enos, David Morse
I always knew that If anyone could cope with the world’s worsening Zombie crisis, the go to guy had to be Brad Pitt. He wages “World War Z” against the undead, but unlike Hollywood’s typical brain dead horror films, “World War Z” has a lot on its mind. When Pitt wants to know what’s going on throughout the world, we know he’s been pondering the problem.
I’ll tell you what’s going on. If Pitt doesn’t discover the antidote for the Zombie Virus, the infected with the funny walk may soon take over the world.
The scary spectacle meshes with a thoughtful script that piles on the political overtones.
The PG-13 rating assures Moms and Dads their kids won’t be subjected to a lot of close-up bloodshed. Pitt’s performance won’t be remembered as his best ever, because saving humanity from hordes of deadheads has its dramatic limitations.
“World War Z” is obviously a superior Zombie thriller, as good as it gets under the circumstances. On a scale from one to four, I give “World War Z” three stars.
Making it one of the better Summer season blockbusters.
