Try and picture a lifeless version of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” made strictly for teenagers and what you have is “The Host”.
It’s the work of Stephanie Meyer the creator of “Twilight” infamy. Just wait until the teens discover that “The Host” is so boring, they’ll have no excuse but to start texting each other during the movie just to stay awake.
It appears that a teenager named Melanie is among the last of the humans, in a sterile future world dominated by aliens, who turn remaining humans into other aliens, simply by boring them to death, as this sorry movie does to its audience.
William Hurt, a name from the past, showed the good sense to grow a beard, so that no one would recognize him in this film.
Talented Teenager Saoirse Ronans stubbornly refuses to allow the Aliens to turn her into a zombie. Kissing in the rain just won’t do it for “Twilight” fans without any payback from Werewolves or Vampires to fall back on.
When he tells her, “Look, look at me, I’m human”, I answered back look we’re also human, but there’s just so much tedium we can take And the “The host” takes slow motion to a whole new level.
The night I saw the movie the teenagers were in no mood to give “The Host” anymore than 1 star. Trust me, “The Host” is dreadfully dull
