Why bother calling the new doomsday thriller “Olympus Has Fallen”? When It’s obviously “Diehard Visits the White House”.
Unlikely hero Gerard Butler battles North Korean terrorists who’ve taken the President hostage.
Despite all the authentic trappings, the shallow story’s just not very convincing.
The mastermind of mass destruction takes President Aaron Eckhart hostage neutralizing America’s military might.
But thank goodness, Ex-Secret Service agent Gerard Butler just happened to be sneaking into the Oval Office spoiling for a fight. Bruce Willis would be proud of Butler’s cat and mouse game with the evil North Korean terrorist.
In the meantime, acting President Morgan Freeman plays his deeply concerned character to the hilt.
Is there nothing he can do to make the North Koreans play for their Effrontery? Butler’s bullet riddled “Diehard” approach seems to be the only solution.
“Olympus Has Fallen” falls so far beneath the radar of reality and logic that it plays like a superhero fantasy. Just like the movie, when Butler finally cleans up the mess, he’ll get the Presidential commendation, which in this case is worth only 2 stars.
The picture’s only objective is the further dumbing down of Hollywood’s world view.
