Starring: Steve Carrel, Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi
Everybody knows Steve Carrel’s career building image as a humble, sweet natured, kind hearted soul.
So you can imagine the shock, when “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” is an arrogant, egotistical, stuck up fool.
Carrel plays a second rate Magician whose career has fallen on hard times. It’s even harder finding anything half way amusing about this sour sit-com.
Carrel’s grating persona is so good at getting on your nerves, It’s almost impossible to enjoy the movie. With Burt Wonderstone’s career self-destructing he turns to magic legend David Copperfield in Carrel’s typically high handed approach.
Jim Carrey’s even more obnoxious as the new Magician on the block upstaging Carrel. Carry’s sleight of hand is so creepy, it borders the psychotic. What’s worse, Carrey goes so far over the edge, he’s not even funny.
With so little that’s amusing and so much that’s irritating, the movie should have been called “The Incredibly Bad Burt Wonderstone”, that can only pull two stars out of the hat.
Rarely has so much talent been so thoroughly wasted, and it won’t take much to make this sorry film disappear.
