Three-StarRated R
2 hours 40 minutes

Starring: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz

You’d better brush up on “Gone With The Wind” before seeing “Django Unchained”. Maverick Writer-Director Quentin Tarantino targets the slave holding Plantation owners with a vengeance. The slightly insane bloodbath features Jamie Foxx as a former slave turned gunfighter, just seething with resentment, and Christoph Waltz as a German Dentist turned Bounty Hunter. What a team they make.

Their blood spattered trail leads them to Leonardo DiCaprio’s lavish Plantation. He’s a charming, sadistic degenerate, who would have been the perfect match for Scarlett O’Hara.

What Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds” did to the Nazis, “Django Unchained” does to the slave owning society just before the Civil War.

The outrageously brutal satire is such fun, you’ll forgive the graphic violence just to enjoy Tarantino’s point of view.

DiCaprio is such a delightful scoundrel. “Django Unchained” shakes off the shackles governing a traditional Western. And It’s often extremely amusing in a perverse sort of way. “Django Unchained” rides off into the sunset with 3 stars.

Tarantino’s visionary version of the old south doesn’t appear in any history books, but “Django Unchained” makes for a juicy spice of heroic make believe. And you know something, you’ll be cheering..
