“Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 2″November 17th, 2012 at 10:20 am by Sy Becker under A Look at the Movies
1 hour 55 minutes
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
It’s over, it’s finally over. We’ve seen the last of the “Twilight Saga”. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson close the book on pulp literature’s most clueless vampires. They show once again that acting is not in their blood.
The Cullen’s latest adventures are as awkward as all the other “Twilight” epics. And, if anything, the performances are stodgier than ever.
Since I’m sure most of you have shown the good sense to avoid the four previous “Twilight” flicks, I’ll spare you the silly details, except to say the vampire brotherhood and their werewolf allies face extinction at the hands of the ruling class.
For a film about vampires, it’s amazing how bloodless the performances are. Regardless of the violence, the picture’s still rewarded with its customary PG-13 rating. Pattinson show’s what little emotion he can muster only when he seemingly can’t take his eyes off Stewart’s carotid artery. Otherwise it’s a flat line performance.
Look, for those who might have enjoyed the books, I understand that some stories just don’t translate well to the screen. The last of the “Twilight Saga” deserves exactly what the other’s got, 2 stars.
It’s the last of the “Twilight” turkeys and I’m so glad that it’s over, finally.
