I-Team Blog: Piccadilly Predicament
If you received a Piccadilly Pub gift card for Christmas, you may be out of luck. The Piccadilly Pub Restaurant on Riverdale Road in West Springfield shut down yesterday without warning. 22News I-Team found out about this when viewers began sending us e-mails claiming that the pub had abruptly closed. I called the restaurant a couple of times to verify their claims, and nobody picked up the phone, so we went to the pub and found a letter on the front door, which stated they were temporarily closed.
I immediately called Piccadilly Pub’s corporate office for more details on this closure, and to find out if people who have gift cards will be refunded their money. The woman who picked up the phone told me that she’d have one of the members of management call me back with a response.
Not wanting to wait for that answer, I checked the company’s web site for information. The site stated that company gift cards are no longer available, and that the gift cards that have been issued are “Non-Refundable.”
The 22News I-Team will keep pressing for answers, and I’ll let you know what we find out! If there’s anything you want the 22News I-Team to investigate, send an e-mail to iteam@wwlp.com.
They apparently shut down the 9 remaining locations, including North Reading. Workers there contacted me since I ran the Thursday night trivia there
Hi,
I live in Chicopee and have a $50.00 gift card for the Piccadilly Pub.
Just wanted to say thank you for your effort.
Dave
I have a gift certificate, but it has a magnetic strip & I don’t know how much it is. Companies that are in bankruptcy should not be allowed to sell gift certificates unless they escrow the funds. There needs to be a law.
