“Man on a Ledge”
Sam Worthington
Elizabeth Banks
Ed Harris
Whose that Man on a Ledge threatening to jump? He’s escaped criminal and ex-cop Sam Worthington. His grandstanding is supposed to divert attention away from jewelry caper over in the next building that he’s orchestrated from his perch. But this far-fetched tongue-in-cheek thriller is in danger of slipping off the edge from sheer silliness.
No one’s going to get him down from there, not even the cop’s loveliest negotiator Elizabeth Banks. Talk about multi-tasking; Sam toys with her and direct jewelry heist operations all at the same time.
After fifteen minutes of tolerating Worthington’s phony American accent, you’ll also be urging him to jump. Like our hero up there, Man on a Ledge has nowhere to go but downhill. The overly ambitious plotline just gets too troublesome to follow.
I’m afraid Man on a Ledge won’t hang on for long, and if you happen to take the plunge and waste your money, please remember Becker gave this dud only 2 stars. And what’s worse, will the Australian Sam Worthington ever improve his phony American accent?
