“Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”
Rated PG-13
2 hours 15 minutes
What a coincidence! The fourth “Mission Impossible” is really the charm. It’s an exciting, cleverly executed super spy adventure that doesn’t miss a trick. Tom Cruise wisely accepts the mission to bring down a brilliant lunatic, who just happens to have bad intentions with a nuclear device. Catching him is why they call this a “Mission Impossible”.
Cruise and his team play with enough fancy gadgets to make James Bond seem obsolete. Up and coming Jeremy Renner made such a good impression in “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town”, her he gets a piece of the action as the newest member of the daredevil team, but he may be too cautious for his own good.
The fast paced action with its eye popping stunts keeps the picture in high gear.
It’s got a certain freshness and verve that makes you overlook how familiar the plot really is. Another crazy guy dying to detonate his super bomb.
If you choose to spend 2 hours with Cruise and company, you’re in for an enjoyable adventure. “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” works hard at being a great escape with 3 stars. There’s no better popcorn movie for the holidays.
